Ron Mjanger, M.D. FACOG
|
Board-certified obstetrics and gynecology doctor Ragnvald (Ron) Mjanger, M.D., was born in Norway and called it home until he moved to the United States in 1973. After completing his undergraduate degree in chemistry at California State University, Long Beach, and graduate studies in clinical pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco, he returned to the University of Oslo in Norway to earn his medical degree. On return to the U.S., he completed his ObGyn residency at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., in 1988. Since that time, Dr. Mjanger has dedicated his life to helping women with medical concerns that include urinary incontinence, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, fibroids, pelvic pain, infertility, and cosmetic and reconstructive vaginal surgery. To date, he has performed thousands of minimally invasive surgical procedures, helping women of all ages return to the activities they love quickly and safely, with minimal pain and excellent results. His special medical interests, extensive training and experience in robotic gynecologic surgery rank him as one of the top gynecologic surgeons in Minnesota. As a designated robotic surgery instructor by da Vinci robotic maker, Intuitive Surgical, he has served as the lead surgical trainer at the robotic training center in St. Paul, where he trains doctors from around the U.S. and Europe in robotic minimally invasive techniques. Teaching doctors-in-training is a longtime passion. His experience includes serving as clinical assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School-Twin Cities, where he works with fellows, residents and medical students. His work is recognized by both the University and by his colleagues, who named him among the Mpls/St. Paul magazine “Top Doctors” in 2011. His experience reflects a commitment to leadership: he has served as chief of obstetrics and gynecology for St. Paul-based Health East system, and later for United Hospital, and as ObGyn director for Ramsey County Medical Society. Before studying medicine, Dr. Mjanger was a navigator in the Norwegian Air Force and has trained with the U.S. Air Force and Navy. When not seeing patients, he still enjoys piloting airplanes, boating on the Mississippi River, and riding his Harley in small towns in the Midwest. In the winter, he works part time as a ski instructor. He has three adult children. |
